His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tareq held a session of official talks at Al-Alam Palace in Muscat. During the talks, the deep-rooted ties between the two countries were touched on as well as boosting bilateral relations in various fields. The discussions also dealt with ways of expanding frameworks to support and enhance the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the most prominent issues of common interest, and the discussion of some matters in light of the latest events and developments taking place in the regional and international arenas. The talks were attended by the official delegation accompanying His Highness the Amir.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah arrived, along with official accompanying delegation in Omani capital of Muscat on state visit. A fleet of Omani military jets accompanied His Highness the Amir's plane over the Omani airspace. Receiving His Highness the Amir at the airport was Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tareq. The Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affair Shihab bin Tareq, Minister of Diwan of Royal Court Khaled Al-Busaidi, Minister of Royal Office Lieutenant General Sultan Al-Numani, Interior Minister Humoud Al-Busaidi, Foreign Minister Bader Al-Busaidi, Omani Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Saleh Al-Kharousi and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Oman Dr. Mohammad Al-Hajri, were also at the airport receiving His Highness the Amir. Accompanying His Highness the Amir are Sheikh Mohammad Abdulaziz Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Sheikh Hamad Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al-Athbi Al-Sabah, Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Sheikh Mansour Mubarak Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Humoud Al-Malek Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil Dr. Imad Al-Atiqi, and senior officials at the Amiri Diwan.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his accompanying delegation left Kuwait on Tuesday heading to Oman on a state visit. His Highness the Amir is expected to meet with Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tareq. The two leaders will patronize and attend the opening of Al-Duqm oil refinery and petrochemical complex. His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmad Al-Saadoun, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, head of the Crown Prince Diwan Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Deputy head of the Kuwait National Guard (KNG) Sheikh Faisal Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereeda Al-Mousherji, and senior state officials saw His Highness the Amir off at the airport. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed an Amiri Order Thursday appointing Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem as Prime Minister and assigned him to form a government. Born in 1955, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad had a bachelor's degree in economics from Claremont Graduate University and a PhD from Harvard University, and was appointed as professor at Kuwait University in 1985. He worked at Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research in 1987-88. Sheikh Dr. Mohammad was appointed Ambassador to the US in 1993 and stayed there until his appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs on February 14, 2001. He was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Acting Minister of Social Affairs and Labor on July 14, 2003. On February 9, 2006, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad was named Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. He was reappointed in the same post in July 2006 and March 2007, as well as in cabinet reshuffles in October 2007 and May 2008. He held the same position in the governments formed on May 29, 2009, and May 8, 2011.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was treated to an official reception at Oman's royal palace on Tuesday, marking his state visit to the Gulf Arab Sultanate. As His Highness the Amir's official convoy pulled up, he was warmly greeted by Oman's Royal Camel Corps, a customary gesture to welcome a visiting head of state, while the traditional 21-gun salute sounded to usher in the visit. His Highness the Amir went on to shake hands with top Omani state officials before the bilateral talks got underway.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent Tuesday a cable to Governor-General of New Zealand, Cindy Kiro, congratulating her on the country's national day. His Highness the Amir wished her good health and to New Zealand and its people further progress and prosperity.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah leaves on Tuesday with his accompanying delegation to Oman on a state visit. His Highness the Amir, with the Sultanate of Oman Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq will attend the opening ceremony of the Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company on Wednesday.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Seif Palace on Sunday His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. His Highness the Amir also hosted His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
