The statement of Kuwait delivered by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah at the world summit of adoption of the development agenda for after 2015 at the United Nation office in New York on Saturday September, 26, 2015

In The Name of Allah the Merciful the Compassionate

H.E. Co Chairs,
Excellencies, Highness and the Head of Delegations,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Al Salamu Alaikom wa Rahmatu Allah Wa Barakatu

I am pleased to express my sincere congratulations on your chairing of this summit, wishing you all the best in its managements and achieving what we all aspire; I would also like to thank the Secretary General of the United Nations Mr. Ban ki-Moon on his distinctive efforts and his good report.

Holding this historic summit coincides with the seventy years anniversary of establishing such a prestigious organization that all of us are proud of its achievements over the past decades which has strengthened the international cooperation bonds in various fields in facing the challenges and crisis.

The declaration and the seventeen sustainable development goals with their three economical, social, and environmental dimensions which have been adopted at this summit represent a starting point to support global development aspirations.

Majesties, Highnesses and Excellencies,

The targeted sustainable development faces great challenges because of human person behavioral patterns through the ages as well as the impact of the natural disasters and global warming, which doubles our responsibility.

The goals of the sustainable development requires us to act in accordance with predictable innovative methods to keep up with the requirements and development needs in the implementation of the development agenda beyond 2015 in order to eradicate poverty by 2030 through effective international team work and global partnership in accordance with the principle of shared responsibility taking into account the differing burdens.

In this regard, the State of Kuwait emphasizes the need for the developed countries to fulfill their commitments; to allocate 0.7% of their national gross production to secure the access of the developing countries of the sustainable funding, as a confirmation of its commitments made by the international community.

The State of Kuwait is keen to assume its regional and international responsibilities towards achieving development goals and work to strengthen and address the issues positively and effectively.

In the past few years my country has hosted a number of high level economic, development, and humanitarian conferences and has launched several initiatives to strengthen the development and humanitarian fields, which we are following its continued functioning and implementation mechanism to make sure to achieve its declared objectives.

The state of Kuwait has spared no effort in its attempts to provide development aid to developing countries and least developed countries through its various institutions, most notably The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development by providing loans and grants to establish the infrastructure projects for these countries, where my country during the past years has continued in provision of development assistance amounted to 2.1 percent of GDP, which is more than double the internationally agreed rate.

It is a matter of pride that Kuwait, even though it is a developing country has assumed a top position in the provision of humanitarian assistance in 2014, according to the report of the Global Humanitarian Aid issued annually by Development Initiative Organization, with a total aid accounted for 0.24% of GDP, the highest rate among donors countries in the world.

Your Majesties, Excellencies and Highnesses,

The United Nations remains the ideal mechanism to discuss what the world faces of challenges and risks, and our success in achieving sustainable development within the frame of the UN underlines our responsibilities towards our contemporary world.

In conclusion,

I can only but thank you for your kind attention and wish all the best for our conference.

Wasalam alaikom warahmatollah wabarakato,,
