Amir of the State of Kuwait Directed to Kuwaiti Citizens 1st of March 2011
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious Most Merciful,
Thanks to Allah who blessed us with numerous blessings and granted us a secure and stable country, and peace be upon His prophet Mohammed Bin Abdullah, his family and all his companions. Dear brothers and sisters, fellow citizens Assalamu Alikom wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh… In these happy days, we celebrate our glorious national occasions of the fiftieth anniversary of independence, the twentieth anniversary of liberation, and the fifth anniversary of my ascendance to the leadership of the State of Kuwait. I have followed, seen, and closely touched the manifestations of our national festivals in different forms, and was pleased with such shows that were held all over the country in expression of joy and happiness, which was reflected on both citizens and expatriates. It is really a strong national feeling, sincerely expressed by the citizens, each in his own way, forming a wonderful patriotic epic, full of love and loyalty to our dear homeland. Brothers and sisters, I was deeply touched with this magnificent patriotism spontaneously exhibited by our kids via their participation in the operetta "Homeland.., Anything But Homeland", and which Kuwaiti young men and women reflected in their enthusiastic patriotic songs. In this glorious national occasion, I thank all the Kuwaiti citizens, men and women of all ages, who drew a wonderful example of remembering national occasions in a decent and civilized manner, via their active participation in the festivals, the success it entailed and projecting a beautiful picture that inspired everyone. My fellow citizens, you have reflected a positive image to the world. You are the true delectation and glee of Kuwait, its voice and image, its present and prosperous future. Also, I would like to deeply thank all the ministries, official entities, civil society organizations, national bodies, and the private sector for their sincere efforts, as well as the wide and comprehensive readable, audio and video media coverage, which made the occasion more successful. Moreover, I would like to thank all those who extended their congratulations to Kuwait and to us in these national occasions, through different media means, either in Kuwait or abroad. Our loyalty necessitates that we remember, during our celebration of our national occasions, the late H.H. Shiekh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the late H.H. the father Amir Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, may their souls rest in peace, their heroic role, and the achievements they materialized for our beloved country. Furthermore, we remember with appreciation the honorable and brave stances of the brotherly and friendly countries which supported Kuwait during its hardship, and participated with their forces and sons in the liberation battle, where noble bloods were mixed in the heroic battle of supporting the right and defeating anarchy and aggression, till international legitimacy was regained and Kuwait returned free and independent to shelter us as its citizens; living therein, adhering thereto, and ready to sacrifice their lives for defending it. In these occasions dear to us all, I would like to further express my thanks and appreciation to Their Majesties, Excellencies and Highnesses, the dear leaders of the Arab and friendly countries, their delegations, and the representatives of international, regional and Arab organizations who shared us our national celebrations, and honored us with their presence in the festivals prepared for this purpose, as dear guests we are happy to receive. Dear brothers and sisters, It is a blessing by Allah Almighty that the sincere citizens of Kuwait, while celebrating their national occasions, do remember Allah's graces and thank Him for his various blessings and for the security and peace dominating our prosperous and stable country. Thanks and praise be to Allah Almighty, and let us keep on thanking Him in realization of His orders " 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]"
