Dear brothers,
Your Majesties and Highnesses,
Your Excellency the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council,
Your Excellencies

Asalamu Alikom Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakato,

It is a pleasure to meet today in Abu Dhabi, the capital of our second homeland the United Arab Emirates to continue the blessed course of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

We also congratulate ourselves, as well as the people and government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the success of the surgery performed to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, praying to Allah Almighty to bless him with good health and well-being to continue his leading and outstanding role in serving the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and supporting the course of development and prosperity of our blessed council with Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the council member states.

Dear Brothers,

The thirty first session of the Supreme Council of the GCC countries  adds a blessed brick to that mighty edifice, and as a constructive addition to its course, for which Their Majesties, Highnesses and Excellencies devoted their sincere , care, attention and giving, along the past three decades.

This enabled the council to obtain its distinguished position among its regional and international counterparts, and therefore the respect and appreciation assigned thereto.

Dear Brothers,

We follow with concern and appreciation the great efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for eradication of terrorism, which recently managed to arrest a number of terrorist cells planning for killing innocent people, committing destructive attacks, and blocking the course of development therein.

We express our strong denial of such abject actions, and confirming our continuous support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the international community in fighting all types of terrorism.

Dear Brothers,

We followed with interest the positive developments witnessed by Iraq.

We renew our congratulations to His Excellency President Jalal Tablabani for his re-election for a second term, and to His Excellency Nori Al-Malki for being appointed to form the new government, which we wish to achieve the hopes and anticipations of the Iraqi people, security and stability in Iraq.

It is unfortunate that the course of Middle East Peace Process between the Israelis and the Palestinians stumbles  because of the Israeli stubbornness, and its insistence on building settlements.

We call upon all the international parties, particularly the United States of America, in its capacity as the sponsor of the Peace Process, the International Quartet Committee, the European Union, and the international community to press Israel to stop settlement processes, and accept the decisions of the international legitimacy to achieve the just and comprehensive peace process we are all after.

Such peace shall not be materialized but through the establishment of the independent Palestinian state capable of living, the principle of land for peace, the Arab initiative, and adopting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The sensitive situation in Lebanon requires further solidarity of efforts for pacification, and seeking to maintain its security and stability.

We also call upon the Islamic Republic of Iran to resort to debate and take serious steps toward finalizing the issue of the three occupied Emirate islands, or refer the issue to the International Court of Justice.

We also call for solving the issue of the Iranian nuclear file through debate and peaceful means, and to abide by the principles of international legitimacy to reach a peaceful settlement of this file in a manner that provides reassurance and helps keep security and stability in the region.

Dear brothers,
Your Majesties and Highnesses,

I would like to conclude by expressing high appreciation and gratitiude for the efforts of the Secretary General as well as all the staff of the Secretariat General for the excellent preparation and follow up of these meetings and the decisions resulting thereof.

We pray to Allah Almighty to crown our efforts and the works of this session with success and blessing, to realize further growth and prosperity for our peoples, and for better serving the issues of the Arab and Islamic Nation.

Wa Assalamu Alaikom wa rahamat Allah wa Barakatuh
