Speech of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah
In the occasion of The last ten days of the
Holy Month of Ramadan, 1430 A.H.,
13 September 2009

"Do ye not see that Allah has subjected to your (use) all things in the heavens and on earth, and has made his bounties flow to you in exceeding measure, (both) seen and unseen"

Praise be to Allah, the lord of the universes, the lord of the predecessors and the successors, and prayer and peace be to the most honorable prophet Mohamed, his family and all his companions. Thanks to Allah Almighty up to his lordliness and his domination, for his grants and generous giving, and for what He splashed us with brotherhood, cordiality, and communication. We pray to Allah in this Holy month and those blessed days to accept our fasting, our watch, our good deeds, and to maintain the security and tranquility of our country and all the Muslim countries, and to materialize all what we wish for it of sublimity and transcendence.

Dear brothers and sisters ,,,

I would like to congratulate you in the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and the last ten days thereof. May Allah return this month with our dear country and the whole Islamic nation blessed with surplus good and blessing.

The speech in the occasion of the last ten days of Ramadan is uniquely special, important and lovable to me, due to the spiritualism we all feel during these days, which Allah blessed with one night that is better than one thousand months, and made them a season for forgiveness, mercy and immunity from hell.

Brothers and Sisters ,,,

Along the past month we all lived the agony and anguish of Al-Jahra fire incident, which lead to the death and causality of tenth of mothers, daughters and sons, and toward which the feelings of nationals and expatriates were unified in consoling the victims and their families, embodying the nobleness of our people and their unity in ease and difficulty.

We wish to express our thanks and gratitude to our bothers and friends; their Majesties, Excellencies and Highnesses the leaders of the brotherly and friendly countries in this horrible incident and their sympathy with us.

We pray to Allah in this holy month to bless the victims with his mercy place them in his heavens, to grant their families patience and consolation and to bless the causalities with fast recovery and good health.

Dear brothers and sisters ,,,

Kuwait is the entity that gathers us all, and the permanent existence and secure refugee for us all. Our families kept it secure along times, and martyrs watered its land with their pure bloods. Honorable people amongst them carried the burden of its rise, and it still has the loyal sons who serve it with love and devotion. Every person in this country is a patron and is responsible for his entrusted ones, shouldering the trust of liability, which requires devotion in work, truth in saying and altruism in love.

Among the prior responsibilities shouldered by every citizen living in this country is his abidance to his religion, his proud of his citizenship, sticking to the good ethics, staying away from sedition, indecent saying or action, respecting the laws we accepted and enacted for maintaining rights, illustrating duties and organizing the citizen’s affairs; the laws that we should abide to and apply to everyone. Among those priorities also is the respect to our inherited values that call for virtues, being merciful to one another, interconnection, unity and discarding disputes.

Brothers and Sisters ,,,

You are surely aware of the vast developments, changes and painful incidents worldwide, from which we are not isolated and concerning which we should be aware of our size and our capabilities, and from which we should extract the examples and learn the lessons to be one hand in confronting them, wise in handling them, drawing after the behavior of our fathers and grandfathers, whose actions and stances were a clear proof of their love to this country, and maintaining its security, stability and national unity.

Brothers and Sisters ,,,

What I read and heard of categorization and division among the people (of Kuwait) hurt me, as well as the exaggeration of tribal and sectarian prejudice which are categorizations and labels we are not used to and did not know in the past or even accept under one nation that does not segregate between its sons

We must remember that our national unity is what brought the people of Kuwait together in the toughest of situations and troubles. Protecting it and guarding it from the actions of meddlers and conspirers is a holy patriotic duty. I will not allow anyone to meddle or interfere with our national fabric. If the freedom of speech and action is guaranteed for all, this does not mean that such freedom be abused for offending the country and its principles. This should be a reason for unifying ourselves against those who work for harming this country, separating its citizens or middle with its security and stability.

I also repeat my call to our audio, printed and visual media to maintain a reasonable space of freedom, to abide in performing their role with the limits of their liabilities and not to be means for arising sedition, disorder, disunity, and dispute among the sectors of the society.

Duty necessitates that our media means be light stands for guidance and enlightenment, to practice their criticism with poise, highlighting what they want to highlight with credibility and without exaggeration, and to criticize what they want without misleading.

We are in need of every sincere effort that increases the cohesion of our society, fosters the ties of love and correlation therein, highlights its noble and virtuous values, and unites us to be one hand capable of building this country which is brimful with good and loyal citizens.

The world around us is in a hysterical race to take the reins of initiation in all fields. We have to follow the global advancements in all fields without lagging behind or deceleration.

Among the most important reasons of the nations’ fall behind are lots of debate and lack of work. So, replace debate with work, disunity with solidarity, dispute with toleration, and lets bear in mind that work is a sort of worship, and that our country is in need of every sincere effort. Let our guide in loving our country be the sincere work, the true speech, and the vivid altruism of our country Kuwait, which saved nothing to its citizens.

Our country suffers, as all the other countries of the world, the dangers of the spread of swine flue. The concerned entities have taken all necessary procedures for tackling the disease, as well as increasing precautionary awareness and guidelines. We thank Allah Almighty that its spread has been limited (in Kuwait) according to international statistics. We pray to Allah Almighty to protect our dear nation and gracious people and residents from this disease, and that he may cure its victims.

Brothers and Sisters ,,,

In these blessed nights, we remember our late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and our Father Amir Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah may Allah encompass them with his grace, and shelter them in heavens, and to grant our brother H.H. Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah the Head of the National Guard the fast recovery and good health, and to return him to the country in the best of health to continue his used efforts in serving our dear country. May Allah Almighty also encompass Kuwait Martyrs with grace and mercy.

Wassalamu Alikum Wa Rahmatullah Wabarakatu,,,
