Speech of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah,
during the Meeting of the Turkish - Kuwaiti Economic Forum,
held in Istanbul City, on Wednesday
2nd April 2008

Your Excellency friend Abdullah Gul,
President of the friendly republic of turkey,

Your Excellency Muammar Ghuler, Governor of Istanbul,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am pleased to meet you during my visit to the friendly republic of turkey in Istanbul city, the ancient historical city with the captivating beauty and everlasting landmarks.

In the name of the formal accompanying delegation and my own, I would like to renew my gratitude to my brother his Excellency the president and the government and people of Turkey for the generous hospitality and the good reception. Also, I would like to commend the fruitful results of our meetings with your Excellency, and H.E the prime minister, recap Tayyip Erdogan which covered different issues of common interest, especially those related to the bilateral issues and ways to strengthen and developing them which will no doubt play a great role in pushing the cooperation relations between the two friendly countries towards broader fields for the common welfare.

Our meeting that gathers us with the prominent businessmen in turkey in the fields of different economic activities, represents one of the important pillars of cooperation between our friendly countries and our people as well.

The economic issues are becoming a priority and a main concern to different countries, especially within the rapprochement and openness that the contemporary world is witnessing where countries started to adopt the economic reform programs that enhance the private sector’s role, release its capabilities, and invite the foreign investment to participate through its technical and financial potentials.

The state of Kuwait has pursed this method and approach. Recently, several commercial and economic laws have been issued, and those already existing have been developed as a persistent endeavor to transfer Kuwait to an international business and financial center.

We are pleased to invite the Turkish companies and businessmen in the private sector to visit Kuwait, and meet their counterparts to investigate the investment opportunities, and build bridges of cooperation between them.

Meanwhile, I would like to express our happiness for the quick response of the Kuwaiti private sector to invest in different economic activities in turkey.

In conclusion, I wish this meeting all the success, and the result of it shall be a new brick added to the distinguished historical relation between our two countries.

May peace and mercy and blessings be upon your all,,,,,
