Republic of Somalia

Geography

Somalia is located in the Horn of Africa with the Gulf of Aden to the north and the Indian Ocean to the east. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the west, Djibouti to the northwest, and Kenya to the southwest. Somalia has the longest coastline on the continent. Mogadishu is the capital of Somalia.

Climate

Major climatic factors are a year-round hot climate, seasonal monsoon winds, and irregular rainfall with recurring droughts. maximum temperatures range from 30 °C to 40 °C (85–105 °F), except at higher elevations and along the east coast, while daily minimums usually vary from about 15 °C to 30 °C (60–85 °F ).

 

Currency

The shilling ( E), shilin (Somali ) is the currency of Somalia . It is subdivided into 100 cents (E), senti (Somali).

 

Economy

Agriculture is the most important sector, with about 65% of export earnings. bananas are the principal export; sugar, sorghum, maize, and fish are products for the domestic market.

 

The industrial sector is based on the processing of agricultural products, and it is so simple.


It was discovered that oil and other natural resources such as uranium, iron do exist in Somalia, but are not commercially used yet.
