HH Amir graces Teacher's Day Festival


Inauguration of the 8th "Thank You, Teacher" Festival marking Teacher's Day was held on Wednesday , 16th May 2012 , under auspices of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, with attending ranking figures expressing gratitude to His Highness for placing education atop all other priorites of the state.

The Amir, who arrived in a formal motorcade at venue of the festival, College of Basic Education, in district of Al-Shamiah, was welcomed by Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf, Chairman of the Kuwaiti Teachers Association Met'eb Al-Otaibi, and members of the organizing committee.

The festival was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmad Al-Saadoun, former speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi, senior sheikhs, Deputy Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Homoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah, and other senior state officials.

The festival got underway with a statement by the minister of education, who expressed gratitude on behalf of an elite of teachers, chosen for excellence and devotion, to His Highness, particularly for his advocacy, that real development should be based on national manpower, guided by education and knowledge.." .

For his part, Al-Otaibi expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir for approving the pay raise for teachers recently, and voiced hope that the executive and legislative authorities would make teaching among the top priority vocations, endorse special laws for ensuring teachers' safety, establish a special accreditation authority, and found a university for habilitating teaching cadres.

Chairperson of the higher preparatory committee of the festival Leila Al-Awadhi expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir and the other attending leaders for taking part in this crucial event.
