His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Wednesday 21st October 2009 sponsored and attended a ceremony to honor a host of teachers for services throughout the 2008-2008 school year which also marked World Teachers Day.

His Highness arrived at the venue in Shamiyah at 10:30 a.m. (local time) and was greeted upon his arrival by Minister of Education and of Higher Education Dr. Moudhi Al-Humoud and Education Undersecretary Tamadhur Al-Sdairawi, as well as the organizers of the event.

Among attending dignitaries were His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Sheikhs, Parliament Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi, Deputy Chief of the National Guards Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah, and other senior state officials.

The ceremony included a speech by Minister Al-Humoud, a speech by one of those honored, a musical performance by students, and screening of a documentary film on the theme "a teacher's message", and the final honoring of the selected teachers and education ministry staff.
