The opening ceremony of the 13th International Energy Forum was held, on Tuesday, March , 13, 2012  at Bayan Palace under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The ceremony was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Ahmad Al-Sadoun, Deputy Chief of National Guards Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah and other top state officials.

The event started with the national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran.

HH the Amir delivered his opening speech; followed by an address from Kuwait's Oil Minister Hani Hussein, then a note from the Secretary-General of the International Energy Forum Aldo Flores-Quiroga.
