Under the auspices of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, an award ceremony was held on Wednesday October 22nd , 2008 for a host of teachers on the occasion of World Teachers Day for the academic year 2007-2008.

His Highness the Amir arrived at 10:30 am Kuwait time and was received warmly by Health Minister and acting Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Ali Mohammad Al-Barrak and leading officials in the ministry.

Also attending the ceremony was His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Jassem Mohammad Al-Kharafi, Deputy Chief of the National Guards Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and other senior sheikhs and officials.

The ceremony began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran followed by a speech by Health Minister and acting Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Ali Mohammad Al-Barrak. Director of the Ibn Zuhair Al-Andalusi School, Abdullah Al-Ghurair gave a speech on behalf of the teachers.

A documentary was then shown depicting the life and accomplishments of HH the Amir followed by a poem from Kuwaiti poet Mansour Al-Dihani and another documentary on the history of education in Kuwait.

His Highness the Amir was presented with a gift, to which HH proceeded to award all the honored teachers.
